Dorfman Doctoral Student Support Award

Purpose

WRIA has named its doctoral student best paper award in honor of the memory of former WRIA President Mark Dorfman who passed away in December, 2006

This competitive award is given to doctoral students who present their research at a WRIA annual meeting.  This monetary award would be in addition to the waiver of the registration fee received by all doctoral students presenting at the conference.

Application Process and Timeline

Interested applicants should submit a research paper to the Program Chair as outlined in the Call for Papers for the Annual Meeting. Papers already accepted for publication may not be submitted. Dorfman Award submissions must be in by the prescribed deadline.  In that submission, students should

  1. state their desire to be considered for the Dorfman Award
  2. include a letter signed by their supervisor, on University letterhead verifying their student status and level of involvement on the paper

A WRIA committee will assess the submitted papers in conjunction with the normal review process for the annual meeting.

The award winner(s) will be announced at the WRIA annual meeting. Please note that, as a condition of the award, successful applicants are expected to actively participate in the conference in addition to presenting their research at the WRIA Annual Meeting.

Please contact the President-Elect of WRIA with any additional questions.  Contact information is provided on the main page.
