TITLE
"Insurer Insolvency: Causes, Effects and Solutions," Journal of Insurance Issues, Wenck, Thomas L., June 1987, Vol. X, No. 2: 35-48.

ABSTRACT
Despite the extensive attention which has been and is being devoted to insurer insolvency, the problem of insurer financial insolvency is still very much existent. This article examines some of the alleged causes of insolvency and its effects, along with an extensive listing of historical and current suggestions for preventing or solving the insolvency problem. The conclusion is reached that current regulatory efforts are reactive and ineffective and that the fundamental cause of insolvency is incompetent management. Correct decisions in reaction or proaction environments produce success while preventing insolvency.
