"Implications of Federal Off-Budget for Contingency Fund
Allocations to Federal Guarantee Insurance Programs," Journal
of Insurance Issues and Practices, Krogh, Harold
C., 1984, Vol. VII, No. 2: 25-43.
ABSTRACT
With the recent changes in the tax laws permitting individuals
who are covered by employer pension plans to set up Individual
Retirement accounts, interest in individually established, tax
sheltered retirement plans has continued to grow. Many institutions
are competing for the burgeoning funds expected to flow into such
plans.
The purpose of this study is to test a possible strategy by which
an individual might decide changes in the mix of the funding media
in an IRA or similar account. If it is not possible to find a
strategy which is more profitable than committing all of the account
to a single form, then the availability of the flexible arrangements
is not a real advantage.
