TITLE
"The Cost/Benefit Ratio: An Ex-Ante Life Insurance Cost Disclosure Index," Journal of Insurance Issues, Dongsae Cho. Fall 1997, Vol. XX, No. 2, pp. 160-180.

ABSTRACT
Traditional ex-post life insurance cost disclosure indexes are built upon many underlying assumptions and provide only limited value to most prospective policy-owners. The cost/benefit (C/B) ratio, an ex-ante index proposed in this article, would appeal to more consumers, because these assumptions are no longer required. This new ratio is computed based upon future life insurance costs and benefits adjusted for mortality, policy lapse, and interest rate. The advantages and limitations of this suggested index and its implementation are also discussed.
